Other Student Fees:
- Student Involvement and Representation Fee (SIRF): On January 28, 2015 the CSU Board of Trustees established a new voluntary student fee, the Student Involvement and Representation Fee (SIRF). This fee is charged to all students unless they choose to opt out of the fee, which can be done via MyCSULB Student Center. The fee amount is $2 per fall and spring term, and is used to support the student leadership, involvement, governance, and advocacy programs managed by the California State Student Association (CSSA). For more information, see .
- If you are not a resident of California, review the Non-Resident Tuition section for additional fee information.
If you are not a resident of California, you must add $420.00 for each unit of credit you take to your tuition total.
Example Non-Resident Tuition for an undergraduate who wishes to register for 12 units:
- Total California Resident Tuition and Mandatory Fees: $3,689.00
- Multiply the number of units (12) by $420: = $5,040.00
- Add the two amounts together for total non-resident tuition: $3,689.00 + $5,040.00 = $8,729.00
Students may be exempt from non-resident classification if they are a teacher, military service member, California high school graduate who has attended a California high school at least three years, or a dependent child of California residents. If so, you must apply for an exemption every semester through Enrollment Services.

There are various forms of financial aid opportunities that are available to students depending on eligibility. If your financial or educational situation changes after you have applied for aid, you may apply for an appeal.
Available aid programs may include, but are not limited to:
- Scholarships
- Federal Grants
- State Grants
- CSULB Grants
- Federal Student Loans
